Spyderco

Spyderco

Spyderco is more than just another knife brand. Spyderco has an image all its own, which conveys individuality, resourcefulness and a "don’t mess with me" attitude. The Spyderco image was cultivated by the first knives the company offered, which showed off the company’s patented SpyderEdge serrated blade that increases a knife’s effective cutting edge length. The classic Spyderco knife is a lockback knife with a trademarked Spyderco Round Hole for one-handed opening and an ultra-smooth opening mechanism. Most Spyderco lockback knives also feature a pocket clip and/or lanyard hole for fast access. A Spyderco knife is made to last, which is why the company uses stainless steel construction and advanced metal alloys like cobalt-enriched VG-10 steel for a sturdier, sharper and more durable knife.

Comments:
The stainless handle has been discontinued & replaced with a G-10 grip on the new models & although the stainless makes the knife a little unbalanced due to weight, it sure looks cool & is a terrific bargain. It is beautifully made & I'm very happy with this purchase.

Comments:
Just getting into knives, but this one is a beauty! You know you have it in your pocket. Maintains an edge for a good period. First knife I've owned with this type locking mechanism. It was cumbersome at first, but now when I pick up a lock blade with the locking mechanism in the back - it seems cumbersome. Beautifully crafted, and Spyco has stopped production, so get them while they last.

Interesting knife --
By Biker BillVerified Reviewer from Snohomish, WA on 09/10/2009
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Durable, Easy To Use, Fit and finish, Sharp Blade
Cons:
Fairly expensive, Quirky shape, Shape limits usefulness, Short blade
Best Uses:
Campgrounds, Chores around the house, Day Trips, Road Trips
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This knife is definitely a conversation piece. The unique shape, high quality, and sharpness make it an eye-catcher. However, in my opinion, the shape limits the usefulness of the knife. There are a lot of equally sharp, compact blades out there that are superior in terms of usefulness. Nonetheless, I think it is a valuable addition to my collection and a knife that I will use a lot, thanks to its uniqueness.

Nice but Big
By jstew10Verified Reviewer from Traverse City, MI on 08/26/2009
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Good Weight, Sharp Blade
Cons:
Too big
Best Uses:
Backcountry Camping, Survival
Describe Yourself:
Casual Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
It's hard to tell how big these things are from the pictures. This is a nice knife with a sharp blade and a really intimidating look, but it's way to big for an every-day-carry (unless you're a park ranger). Even when folded it dominated my pocket. Try whipping this knife out at the office; they'd call the cops! I'm returning and looking for something smaller.
