By Tom, the gear hound from Portland, Oregon on 10/18/2007 Pros: Bright, Long battery life Cons: Bulky, Heavy, No Beam Adjustment Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This was an impulse buy for me (the price was pretty good). The burner is not recommended for backpacking (it's extremely heavy, though well-built). The headlamp is well-built too, but is big. But bright. Basically a good crawl-space headlamp.
Perfect Backpacking Stove By Beach Runner from Capistrano Beach, California on 09/25/2007 Pros: Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been mountain backpacking for more than 30 years and still have my brass Seva Stove; but this one ignites easier, burns as hot (using white gas), is safer, lighter and more stable. Like the Seva it burns like a blow torch,(can be loud ), and works well even @ high altitude.
Great stove!
Keeps water cooler a bit longer By Greg the Wanderer from Albuquerque on 09/22/2007 Pros: Durable, Lightweight Best Uses: Commuting, Mountain Bikes, Road Bikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: There is one downside to a hard water bottle-you can't squeeze out the water, therefore, you have to drink slowly. But, the shiny aluminum surface keeps the water from heating up in the sun so fast. The bottle will require a large-capacity cage, which Topeak sells.

It fits fine in the cupholders. The cages I use Tacx Tao will not work with this bottle.

By BadAndy from Smyrna, DE on 09/11/2007 Pros: Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Great temperature control, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am just getting into backpacking and I have researched many of these little stoves. All of the ones I have settled on are $100 or more! [...] I had to jump on it, even if it was second rate, the price was right.Well I was pleasantly surprized by this stove. I couldn't imagine any stove being better than this one. It lights very easy. With a butane can it will simmer very well, although I just boil water.

By acharya from Keystone Heights, Fl. on 08/28/2007 Pros: Easy To Clean, Easy to Light, Lightweight, Powerful, Stable Cons: Poor temperature control Best Uses: Backpacking, High Altitude, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great stove for camping, backpacking, etc. It is lightweight, boils water in 3-4 minutes at 5,000 feet altitude. It doesn't simmer or cook at lower temps well, but it is a blater for cooking freeze dried foods etc. I highly recommend it.
