By Amy the mom from IL on 11/03/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, WARM Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought four of these. 2 aired out while i wrangled the smell out of the other 2. The 2 that aired out (only overnight) before washing, washed MUCH better than the 2 that i attempted to wash right away. They needed to be aired out afterwards and they made my washer stink for a LONG time. Air these suckers out first!!!! If you don't mind the work, they are worth the money!
Excellent value--air it out! By shillvegas from Las Vegas, NV on 10/26/2009 Pros: Excellent quality, Heavy-duty, SUPER value, Super-warm Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I took the advice of another shopper and am in the processing of airing out the blanket on my clothes line. It's been a week and the smell is almost gone. This is a SUPER quality product, but don't expect to match it up with your 1000 ct. linen. This is a rugged, heavy-duty blanket made for cold weather and would be ideal for camping. Thanks Sierra Trading Post!

By Satisfied from Boston, MA on 10/04/2009 Cons: As noted in description, Rough Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: What I received is solid and warm but rough, comparable to a military surplus blanket. It's larger than described, 63" x 84". It did reek of mothballs on arrival. I hung it out on our clothesline for 3 days, and one of those nights there was a heavy downpour. I brought it in when dry, and there's no hint of mothballs left, only a slightly musty wool smell.
By Greendebina from Hyde Park, NY on 09/30/2009 Pros: Nice design, Really Warm Cons: Smells like moth balls Best Uses: Spring/Fall, Winter Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Blanket is great to keep warm during outdoor soccer games in the fall and spring. Excellent quality blanket for an excellent price! It does smell like moth balls. I left mine outside for a week to air out and then washed it. The smell is now gone.
The worst thing I ever ordered By Cyclecat from Emeryville, CA on 09/16/2009 Cons: Difficult to Clean, Poor Insulation, Poor Quality, SHEDS EVEN AFTER WASHING, Smells awful, Uncomfortable Best Uses: Lining a basment floor Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is without a doubt the foulest smelling thing I've ever encountered. I ordered it because others mentioned that they'd been successful getting the naphthalene smell out. After 10 washing, febreeze, vinegar, I did some research and discovered nothing dissolves naphthalene other than ethanol. I didn't return it because I've washed it so many times that most of the wool has come off in my washer.
I would buy this product again and again By Rcoggin from North Ogden, UT on 09/15/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Easy To Clean Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great product at low price [...]
By angelcakes from Mammoth Lakes, CA on 09/15/2009 Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good price for wool blankets. Not pretty, but they do the job. Some flaws, but shouldn't affect use, and sold as seconds.
Incredible value for the price! By Kitty from Minnesota on 09/14/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Easy To Clean Best Uses: Spring/Fall, Winter Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Was able to get the Naptha (preservative) smell out by hanging outside for a few days. Very nice blanket!
mothball smell, but great price By kitty from saratoga, CA on 09/14/2009 Best Uses: Spring/Fall, Summer, Winter, Year-round Describe Yourself: Budget Shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: with some vigorous washing the mothball smell subsided. If you get a good price, can even use it to pad grass on a picnic trip. if not, just do what the hotels do, sandwich it between sheets and it'd be just fine.
