Great quality, great price By Michael from Astoria, OR on 12/15/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Hiker Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great soft-shell at a great price. The jacket has a bit of a trimmer fit than other soft-shells I have tried, but this is a positive given my slim frame. Hood fits very well, and is not too bulky when not in use. Jacket's inner fleece lining is comfortable. Internal cuffs are a nice touch to keep out the weather. Two pockets are big enough to hold essentials, fleece-lined to warm hands, and have zippers to secure items. Great buy.
great jacket for the price By somelibrary from medford ma on 12/07/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Lightweight, Versatile Cons: Sized smaller than most Best Uses: Compact easy to carry, Daily Use, Travel Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Outdoorsy Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I like the jacket as a stand alone piece or under a hard shell for layering
Technically Superior Product By MPB4628 from San Pedro, California on 12/07/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Rain and Wind Resistant, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Foul weather Yacht Racing Describe Yourself: High-end shopper Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is one of the most technically well-constructed and engineered products that I have ever purchased. Not extraneous features just solid function. As an active yacht racer I use a lot of high-end waterproof and “expensive” membrane foul weather gear. Although it meets it’s design standard it does little to keep you warm and comfortable. Using this jacket as a mid layer raises the comfort level exponentially. Additionally it’s wind and spray resistant qualities make it ideal for use alone on deck when weather is less miserable or when off watch down below. This jacket is an indispensable item for off shore, overnight races. Runs a bit large.
By John from Illinois on 11/15/2007 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket looks nice and is a decent light weight jacket, but has WAY TOO MUCH velcro. The front zipper and sleeves have pieces of velcro that stick to each other, the lining of the coat and everything else it can get close to. It's a light jacket, if you need to velcro the zipper to keep out the arctic wind buy a different jacket.
Funky neoprene-like fabric By ski guy from Washington State on 11/08/2007 Cons: Awful fabric, Ghastly color Best Uses: Turning women off Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is too long, runs large apparently, and is made from very wierd, neoprene-like fabric that is stiff and really quite awful. If you woiuld build your house out of erzatz building materials like plastic instead of wood, you might like this jacket. The color was also awful. I sent it back.
Great product without the bucks! By 18 Bravo from USA on 11/01/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Multi -envirornment use, Travel Describe Yourself: Career, Casual, High-end shopper Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great jacket without the price. Very similar to the Schoeller technology that the US military has adopted. I recommend one size up. Pro Rainer is a European susidiary of Red Ledge based out of Hamburg Germany and so are their designs . European clothing tends to be cut much smaller and slender in the torso and shoulders.
Check the fit. Highly recommended!!
By soggy hiker from Juneau, AK on 10/18/2007 Pros: Breathable, compact and stuffable, Lightweight, Waterproof Cons: difficult zipper, Wears Out Quickly Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear this as a rain jacket and shell. It rains a lot where I live. The zipper is frustrating, and slider catch must be carefully positioned or it won't zip. Inside stitching around pocket has begun to come apart after about 3 mos of wear. Lots of hook and loop closures to seal the front when the zipper won't engage, but it also sticks to everything.
By slimjim from Denver, CO on 09/19/2007 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight Best Uses: Backcountry, Cross Country Describe Yourself: Advanced Inseam: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Weather is cooling and this is a great layer for morning runs.
By mike the bike from chicago-land on 09/14/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Water resistant Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Rain, Travel Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Seems to be a very good jacket. It says ProRainer on the hem, so I am assuming it is very water resistant. (The hang tag says "waterproof, breathable, so maybe there is a waterproof membrane.) It has a fleece lining and should be very similar to Schoeller WB-400, but at a fraction of the cost. Nice atheletic (snug) fit. I will be wearing this in the rain on my morning bicycle rides. Very nice internal cuff on sleeves.
By mike the bike from chicago-land on 09/14/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Good Cut, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Rain, Travel Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A great basic soft shell with fleece lining. It says "waterproof, breathable" on the hang tag, so I am assuming it probably has a waterproof membrane. It seems to be similar to Schoeller WB-400 but at a fraction of the cost. It has velcro on the cuffs that really don't make sense, cinch it up and the cuff seems bulky. I thought it was going to be just a shell, but it has the bonus of a fleece interior. I will wear it out biking and around town, without worrying about a drizzle.
