It's so much more than I expected for the price. Very sturdy materials, very well put together. The interior partitions and cotton fabric keep my clothes from sliding around and getting wrinkled. It's not important but it looks cool too, sort of an Indiana Jones thing. And it can take a beating-I'm really hard on gear. While canvas and leather are durable they do make this bag very heavy. I travel by car so it doesn't matter, but I wouldn't want to take it on a plane or carry it very far.

Probably not practical for actual hiking. I ordered two, one for me, one as a gift. THE PLASTIC FASTENERS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED BACKWARD, WHICH IS WHY SOME FOLKS HAVE COMMENTED THAT THERE IS NO WAY TO TIGHTEN THE STRAPS...JUST UNBUCKLE, PULL THE PIECE OFF, AND TURN IT AROUND. ALL BETTER!
