By golfer3524 from San Bernardino, CA on 12/02/2007 Cons: Instep width sloppy., Uncomfortable Describe Yourself: Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: After trying on, the heel area was quite comfortable and stayed with my foot with each step. But the instep was sloppy across the ball of the foot even with the addition of a thicker sock and shoe inserts. I suspect the design in the lacing area might be at fault. But if these are "B" widths, I wouldn't want to know what the "D" is like. So these are going back. Seemed well priced, though.
By Urban Trekker from San Francisco on 11/28/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Solid Traction, Stable Cons: Width Sizing Not Accurate Describe Yourself: Casual, Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: RW Beacon has a N width in the inventory. I could not get my foot into these shoes in N (I have a B width foot). An on-line shoe competitor had reviews that customers with N feet should buy the D width, the next size in width. Returned the N for D's and although they are a bit "sloshy", orthodics and a Spenco pad took up the difference. Forefoot area is square and roomy. Not as comfortable as Rockport Northfields, but would stand on it's own in an urban setting. This is a one-use shoe, doesn't look like it's resoleable if that's important to you. Factory lacing is too long for 6 hole shoe (should be 36", they supply 50" laces) - so if you keep these shoes, invest in the proper lacing size or you'll have a tripping hazard.[...] The only caveat with this shoe is proper width-sizing.
By Buster Rider from Los Angeles, CA on 11/21/2007 Pros: Durable, Practical, Stable Best Uses: Business, Casual Wear, Dressey, Formal Events, Standing, Travel, Walking Describe Yourself: Alternative, Practical bargin hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Going to order & try 1/2 size larger to see if narrowness can be conpensated w/o looking like pixie shoes...
Comfortable, if a bit small By Moleman from Western Washington on 11/01/2007 Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was surprised when I tried the first pair on to actually have a shoe that was too narrow. Going up a half size took care of that problem.
Heel and toe protection are effective yet subtle (I have a habit of scuffing toes!)
By jersey girl from central jersey on 10/23/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great look, Great support, Great Traction, Made in Italy, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So nice! and in my size! nice looking boot, great arch support, AMAZING PRICE!
Very well-made, heavy duty boots By LC_chik from florida on 09/27/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are top-notch backpacking boots - suited for long distance backpacking. Somewhat heavy, excellent support, durable. If you want a day hiker, look elsewhere. But if you want a boot to support a 40# pack over rough terrain, this is your boot. Plus they are Gore-tex! Easily the BEST backpacking boot out there (made in Italy) - my old Raichle's were better constructed, but weighed almost 3x as much.
