By LABiker from Lo-Cal So. Cal. on 01/18/2009 Pros: Durable, Improves Performance, Safe, Works Well Best Uses: Handgun proficiency Describe Yourself: Beginner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Reactive targets have the immediate auditory & visual feedback that keeps range time engaging. "Dueling trees" like this can be used for casual plinking or in friendly competition with a partner. Shooters don't live by paper targets alone!
By Dog Shooter from SD on 01/18/2009 Pros: Improves Performance Cons: Difficult To Use, Heavy Describe Yourself: Experienced Hunter Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Big, bulky, and underbuilt zippers & fabric. Leg lock-in design is poor, and the zipper to close up the table top broke after 1 use. Once assembled, it works fine on flat ground. Unstable on uneven ground, and less than convenient with weight for mobile shooting - bought for prairie dog shooting and won't use it once for that. Live & learn.

Well Built but Pricey Upgrades Necessary By Bird Dog Guy from Allentown, PA on 01/08/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy to use, Well constructed Cons: Heavy, Laborious to Adjust, Large Best Uses: Bird Hunting, Recreational Shooting, Shotgun proficency Describe Yourself: Experienced Hunter Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: There is no doubt about it, the trap throwers on this product are very nice quality and easy to use! The 3/4 cocked is a great innovation and eliminates the long after-throw wobble and shaking that follows the old traps, while also making the next shot quick and easy to load. The frame and traps bolt together easily and are rugged and heavy, as you'd expect.
However, I would not say the frame comes apart so easily that you want to be assembling in the field. It is all bolted, no quick releases or collapsing. I have not tried to drive with this in my hitch and they do not say if that is approved, but unless you have a pick-up or VERY large SUV, that will be a necessity for most people.
Perhaps the biggest problem is that with all this throwing power and ease at your fingertips, the device's usability is severely limited by the tedious adjustment of the trap direction which uses several bolts. In order to adjust the direction three bolts are used on a three-way hinge, so you need to use a wrench make a new throw while the shooter stands around. You wind up throwing the same pattern over and over.
If you are going to throw just a handful of clays, you are better off with a hand thrower which will give you variety, costs a few bucks and fits under your drivers seat.
Of course, for a long day of clays, you will need a trap like this, but I agree with the previous reviewer that it really requires the addition of the "wobble kit" which appear to be upgraded three way joints that are moved by hand. This amounts to about a $60 to $70 upgrade for two joints. These really should come standard on a thrower of this price!

By Heidi the gift buyer from Minnesota on 01/05/2009 Pros: Sharp Blade, Versatile Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this as a gift for the neighbor, next year will be his second hunt. Can't wait to see his results. This year he out-hunted my husband and he is eager to use this knife after watching the DVD.
Very good thrower at a great price. By JD from Music City, USA on 01/05/2009 Describe Yourself: Experienced Hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: While the assembly instructions are sparce, putting one together is not rocket science. Powerful spring so be careful. The stake down tripod can and does work loose from the ground, so I'm going to mount it to a plywood base and weight it. My son, son-in-law and I had a blast shooting clay birds. Throws doubles well, one high and one lower. The clip that holds the clay bird does tend to work loose and will need to be retighted several times during a shoot (understandable given the forces). The clip position (forward or to the rear) will change the flight and distance of the clay bird. Easy to charge, easy to use.
