By Yamaraja from Murwillumbah, NSW, Australia on 03/22/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just returned from a 4,000km ride, wore the jacket the whole time, in both hot and cold conditions. In cold I only wore a T-shirt under it. In the heat even with the liner removed it was a bit hot.
By DC from Washington Metro on 03/20/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a nice leather jacket with removable pads. I was disappointed that it was so bulky around the chest, not as slim as pictured, it's like they tailored it for a body builder. Read that sizing is 1.5 to 2 sizes smaller, so I got the L based on that and some comments here (typically I wear S). The L made me look like an American Gladiator. Not quite my look, so returned it for a M which is better overall, though snug around the waist. I think at the most you can have a 30 waist, no gut at all, for the M.
By sikken from Crestview, FL on 03/20/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great jacket! It fits great, the material is not too heavy and not too light, and it looks great on! I love the zipper on the back that lets you add patches or whatever you want. The jacket comes without armor but you can buy the shoulder and elbow pads separately from another site, unfortunately Sierra Trading Post does not carry them. I would have liked some back protection but overall this jacket is GREAT!
By Rockin Robin from St. Charles, IL on 03/19/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Stylish, Tough Cons: Collar is a little stiff Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very nice motorcycle jacket. Wore it yesterday for the first time in about 55 degree weather and it kept me protected from the wind exceptionally well. Plan on getting lots of miles out of it.
By c squared from north ga on 03/16/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Breathable, Comfortable, Stylish, Tough Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It's truly "Euro" cut. I'm 6' and 150 lbs, a large fit just right, so that if I need to layer I can. But, I've ridden in the mid 30's with only a long sleeve shirt underneath with no problems.
By Rebel250 from Portland, OR on 03/15/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Stylish, Tough Cons: Pockets are few and small, Runs 2 sizes small Best Uses: Long Rides, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a beautifully-styled jacket, very well put together. The armor is in all the right places, and stays in place while the jacket is worn.
There's only one inside pocket and two outside pockets, which may concern some people but doesn't bother me.
Buyer beware - my Fieldsheer jacket (size Small) fits me perfectly. I ordered the Hein Gericke in a Large, and it's pretty snug around the waist and hips. I think XL would be too large, though. This jacket is wide in the shoulders and narrow at the hips, so apple- or pear-shaped people needn't apply. I'm fortunate that the fit works for me. I love it!
By Mario from Salem, OR on 03/14/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Stylish, Tough Cons: Doesn't Breath, No reflective material Best Uses: Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Live in OR, first winter jacket, very impressed with material/design/made, 5'7"/138 lb, 38S suit, M fits slightly larger even with liner, I do think Hein Gericke is true to size, due to personal build, I might need a smaller size, would prefer shorter sleeves, softer collar, love the heavy duty feel and look, made of 400 Denier Polyester, CE approved armors well placed on shoulder, elbow and back, 100% weather proof riding up to an hour in 40 F, wind or rain, suspect it will not breath much in summer, pockets are small, will need to take gloves off to access, even after reviewing the entire jacket line up in Motorcycle Superstore, still best value for money, for additional saving look for coupons, already recommended to riding partners, will return to try out a smaller size.
This jacket has no protection at all!!!! By kaslana from Chicago, IL on 03/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: Long Rides, Street Riding Motorsports: Casual Rider, Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great jacket however there's no armor!!!
It's tough cloth material but there's no armor on shoulders, elbows, or back!!!
It's very stylish!
I want recommend it for motorcycle riding unless armor is added
Classic Sport Jacket at a great price By John from Woodland Park, CO on 03/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an awesome deal at this price for this jacket. I have another Hein Gericke jacket and am very pleased with the quality that goes into making their products. This jacket offers plenty of protection in the arms, shoulders and back.
Hein Gericke Spader Moto Coat By baggerman from Bismarck, ND on 03/08/2009 Pros: Abrasion Resistant, Tough, Waterproof Best Uses: Long Rides, Poor Weather, Protection, Street Riding Motorsports: Motorcycle Enthusiast Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is typical of Hein Gericke quality. Unsurpassed! I'm a little disappointed that the collar pushes up due to the one way zipper. Other than that this is an incredible coat for serious riders. Waterproof, rugged, vented, armor on the shoulders, elbows, lower tailbone too. A riding coat of this quality should include a two way zipper though - go figure. You'll love that the waist belts pull to each side not across the zipper! Might be a little warm above 90 degrees. You can't go wrong.
