purchased for a boy scout By camping fool from colorado springs, co on 05/15/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Padding, good range of size adjust, Strong Zippers Cons: Not Enough Compartments Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Solidly constructed of a cotton canvas type, nearly waterproof cloth in an understated style. Should not need a pack cover except for extended downpours. Should wear well for a boy's career in boy scouts. A little on the heavy side in comparison, but probably worth the compromise in durablity. Definately a solid value. My only worry is if repair is needed being it's a New Zealand product. But, any real outdoor store should be able to handle that.
Great pack from a top Kiwi company By Meat Hunter from Whakatane NZ on 05/13/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers, Takes a lot of weight Best Uses: Backpacking, Hunting Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Macpac make good packs. The glissade is a good strong pack that I would use for being away upto a week in the scrub. But it's no too big for those overnight trips either, or that it would get in your way while hunting.
By nedley from vermont on 05/03/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: harness design works well for me. 70L is about the smallest capacity i'd want for camping or backpacking for more than a few days at a time, but this one totally meets my needs.
By Craigo from Australia on 04/21/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Best Uses: Camping, Extended Travel, Short Travel, Trekking, Weekend Trips Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks and feels great to wear, the supports work a treat, although at this stage I can't find the cover for the back straps when flying (assuming there is not one), like on most backpacks, not looking forward to the first battle with a baggage carousel. Although a very small compliant for such a great product! Especially for the price!

By Pagosa Slim from Pagosa Springs,CO on 04/09/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy to Pack, Good Back Support, Good Padding, Strong Zippers Cons: Not Enough Compartments Best Uses: Backpacking, Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I kept hearing great things about MacPacs so I finally bought one myself. I am so glad I did!
I use the back for 3-4 day backpacking trips and multi-day deer and elk hunting excursions. For me the Glissade is the perfect size for carrying all that I need to bring with me.
What I think is great about my MacPac pack first and foremost is the Aztec material they make them out of. It's water tight with exception of some of the zipper areas, but then minimally. I've never used a cover (which can be a hassle) and my stuff has always stayed dry. The Aztec material just can't be beat for the price, it's rugged.
The harness system on MacPacs are also awesome. You don't see it in pictures, but they have a built in lumbar back support that I haven't seen on any other similarly priced packs. The straps and hip harness are amply padded and solid.
Finally, the way the pack rests on your back and curves to fit your back are just outstanding.
The only downer is that they only have one exterior pocket on the outside (some packs have three). But this didn't stop me from buying it and it shouldn't stop you. This pack at this price is a deal!
MacPac is updating their line--so get these closeout packs while they last! I've found that MacPacs are a step above the rest in construction, design, comfort & sturdiness. They have a pretty sweet logo, and if it's made in New Zealand, it's got to be great, right?!
