By the watergirl from Crestline, CA on 10/30/2009 Pros: Great Grip, Lightweight Best Uses: Alpine Routes, Heavy Snow, Mixed Routes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Works very well even on icy surfaces. I have used my previous pair for 3 seasons now. I just joined the wire together in the areas where the rubber seems to break to make them last longer. Also, I attach the yaktrak to my boots by a tie, so they can be easily removed yet still be attached to my boots for easy transportation when large sections of the road have to snow.
Great but get the right size By C in MA from Boston MA on 10/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Put On And Adjust, Great Grip, Lightweight, Versatile Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I inherited a size L pair and they worked great for years, but when they broke and I bought size S (which should fit my women's 10 shoes), I could not get them on my shoes. This is a super product, but the sizing is off. Way off.
Great for casual use; hard to put on By Dog walker from Spokane, WA on 10/30/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Great Grip, Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Snow and ice in town Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have used been using Yaktrax for two years for fitness walking, walking the dogs, and for getting from the office to my car when ice and compact snow make walking hazardous.
Yaktrax provide good traction on ice and compact snow. They do not always stay on under hard use, but they are o.k. for casual walking on sidewalks, trails, or along roads. They are great for getting around town when it is icy.
They can be difficult to put on and off, and putting them on requires sitting down and working with them for a few minutes. Stretching them over shoes or boots takes quite a bit of strength, and the shoe must be seated perfectly or they will slip off the shoe while walking. Once properly seated they are quite secure. They hold up to heavy use quite well unless a sharp rock nicks the rubber. Once the rubber webs gets even a small cut they will soon break under use.
One plus that partially compensates for difficulties putting them on (which can discourage their use) is that they are compact enough to fit in a jacket pocket, so they are likely to be readily at hand when needed. I keep a pair in each of my winter coats so they are always available when needed.
By dd from Los Angeles, CA on 10/30/2009 Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased a pair for Mom & Dad in their 70s and have to deal with icy winters. Good investment for fall prevention outside. Always wanted to try these but I don't get weather here! Great purchase.
Yaktrax are great for walking on ice! By Jane from Springfield, MO on 10/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Put On And Adjust, Great Grip, Lightweight, Versatile Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have used the Yaktrax slip-on ice traction for a few years now and bought this pair for my husband. They are not even noticeable when wearing, but yet they provide stability and security when walking on ice or packed snow. I have no fear of slipping and falling with these on. They take about 5 seconds (or less) to slip onto the bottoms of my shoes. They are compact enough to slip into my small purse. Buy a pair of these - you won't regret it!!!
By sodakgrrl from Black Hills, SD on 10/29/2009 Pros: Great Grip, Lightweight, Stays on tight Cons: Not good in wet snow Best Uses: Daily walks on icy street Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I live in the northern Black Hills of SD, where winter seems to last a lot longer than we want. My dogs insist on walking me a couple of miles every day, and it can get pretty treacherous sometimes. I had perfected the 'Addy St. Shuffle' (looks a bit like MJ's "Thriller" dance, with a much higher chance of falling, if you know what I mean! :o), and decided I didn't want to break anymore wrists. I've already tried these out a couple of times this month, and they work great! Great traction on ice, and they stayed on even though I was piling through about a foot of powder today. I gave these a 4 instead of a 5 because they don't seem to work well in wet snow--the coils clog up and soon you are walking on a clump of snow. Really, I can live with that. And the 'Addy St. Shuffle' is now "The Stroll!"

Great for these Wisconsin winters! By Jody from Lodi, WI on 10/28/2009 Pros: Great Grip, Lightweight Cons: Tie them on or loose them Best Uses: Heavy Snow, Ice and snow Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I walk to work, so these are much needed on the icy and snowy sidewalks and streets. Do tie them on as they slip off w/o you knowing it. I bought a bright color so I could find them just in case.
