Wonderfully fancy windbreaker By NYC Hiker from New York, NY on 11/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Good Weight, Lots Of Pockets, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, HikingCamping, Sports Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a fantastic windbreaker - wonderfully soft (for a rip-stop nylon type fabric) fabric, great coverage with the length and hood, cheerful orange netting inside, and my favorite feature - PIT ZIPS! Only drawback is it isn't waterproof, meaning I had to order a second very similar coat that IS waterproof and still very lightweight & packable. Only kept this one too because of the pit zips and I just love it so much. A note about Haglofs sizing: it isn't as advertised by STP. I wear a small, which is a 36 or 38 in Haglofs (in this, a 36). A 38 is NOT an 8, etc. Order larger for your usual size.
By Mulln'It'Over from Jax, NC on 11/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Loved the jacket, but ended up returning it. I'm 5'8" and 125, and I usually have trouble deciding between a S and a M. Ordered the S because I wanted a "fitted" jacket (was not likely to wear many layers under it), and although the body of the jacket fitted well, the shoulders were a bit tight and the sleeves were a bit short for a jacket. Constructed really well, and I like the look. Did not wear it out and about.
By Mo from Plymouth, NH on 11/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket can be worn with a nice casual outfit and it is a great layering jacket for skiing and hiking. It is so comfortable and nice looking! I know that it will be a mainstay of my wardrobe.
Love Haglofs, but not this one By Nashville from Nashville on 11/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Cold Weather, Cycling, Running Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: For whatever reason this didn't fit well. It may have just been too big overall or for someone with bigger shoulders. I am more petite so perhaps that is why it didn't work. Also, the color was kind of funky. Returned it.
By Smallieman from Kirkwood, MO on 11/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: light outer shell,a good wind proof and water proof outer shell...runs a little small
Wonderful, feather light, well-made By NYC Hiker from New York, NY on 11/04/2009 Pros: Lightweight, Stylish, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Casual Wear, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love Haglofs - their coats are very well-constructed and high quality. This one is a beautiful medium blue and not the purply blue shown on my monitor. It's very lightweight and has great coverage with the hood. It'll scrunch down nicely for spring/summer hiking. No pit-zips is the only drawback (but keeps it more waterproof). A note about Haglofs sizing: I wear a size 2 or 4 in most clothing, and wear a 36 or 38 in Haglofs. Sizing is NOT as described by STP (a 38 is NOT an 8, etc.). A 36 or 38 is a small, etc. Order up, and enjoy!
By Mo from Plymouth, NH on 11/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill, Hiking Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this jacket to wear over a soft shell or fleece for inclement days skiing or hiking. It seems like it will protect you from anything! Nice-looking too!
By NYC Hiker from New York, NY on 11/04/2009 Describe Yourself: Frequent Exerciser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Haglofs is wonderful stuff. I have several of their coats and adore them all. Didn't keep this one only because the burnt orange color made me look yellow. A note about Haglofs sizing: STP calls this 38 a US 8. Nonsense. Elsewhere, a Haglofs 38 is a "small" which is more accurate. I wear a 2, or 4 in most clothing, and wear a 36 or 38 in Haglofs. If you're a size 8, don't order the 38 as it'd be too small.
almost perfect, but tight under arms By Extra731 from Atlanta, GA on 11/03/2009 Pros: Flattering, Functional hood, Lightweight, Lots of pockets, Stylish Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I usually wear a 4 and tried both the 34 and the 36. The 36 had plenty of room for layering a sweater or fleece under it EXCEPT under the arms. I liked almost everything about this jacket, and it would have gotten five stars except for the armpit problem. Tons of pockets, a functional hood, the styling was relatively flattering for this type of jacket, it's lightweight, the color was just what I wanted. Haglofs even puts the flap over the zipper on the left so that a right-handed person can zip and unzip the jacket easily (unlike most American manufacturers, for some reason). I really, really wanted to keep it, BUT it's too tight under the arms. I don't have bulky shoulders or arms, as far as I know. For about five minutes I even thought "well, maybe I'll just keep the pit zips open," because it was comfortable that way. That's not I want to do all winter, though. If you have very tiny shoulders and arms or don't plan to layer anything but a thin base layer under it (or if you want to keep the pits unzipped), maybe this jacket will be perfect for you.
