Sturdy, well-cushioned, ample pockets By GLC from Arkansas on 04/06/2009 Pros: Easy To Access Items, Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Describe Yourself: Career, Comfort-Oriented, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Large enough for a 17" laptop; very well cushioned for more-than-typically rugged use. It is constructed very well -- I expect it to last a long time. Pockets are best for flat supplies (office folders, books, etc.), not for very bulky contents. This is sort of heavy duty briefcase (yes, its a backpack) for the hiker, tourer or cyclist.
can't beat it for the price. By Camaxtli from Quebec, Canada on 03/18/2009 Pros: Easy To Carry, Good Capacity, High Quality Best Uses: Long Vacations, Weekend Trips Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This classy backpack has enough space for fitting a 17 in. laptop with ease and has space for all the wiring, mouse, notes pads, pens, a few CD/DVD, etc... Can be described as an portable office bag. It has a lot of small pockets inside for storing easy-to-lose tiny things. Good padded shoulder straps leaves your hands free. Does not look like a classic portable bag so less a target for thieves. It also qualifies for an airplane handbag (laptop).
We use it for transporting the office laptops and their accessories for field work up north, and it gets moved around a lot in small airplanes and helicopters. The padding protects well the computer. Got some bags since 2005 and they have not yet broken.

Unfortunately she didn't like the style. Will perhaps keep for myself.

By QT3.14 from Seattle, wa on 02/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Good padding Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased the lowepro daypack looking for a camera case-backpack that would hold extra items in addition to a camera/lenses. Others I looked at were the mountainsmith brands and the lowepro sling-type bag. I chose this one because of the excellent reputation of lowepro. It also had features I liked such as : more comfortable than a sling, with a handle on top that allows strapping bag onto carryon, the bottom is squared so when set down it won't tip over, the internal front pocket has 2 small zippered pockets for money, extra memory cards, etc, as well as numerous slots for ipod and a key clip. The size of the front compartment is spacious enough for a sweater and lunch. The back compartment is well padded and designed for a laptop.
What I don't really like is that the camera compartment is a bit shallow to place my DSLR with the 40-150mm lens in (lens down) though I can either put my smaller lens on, with plenty of room left over for the zoom, or I can adjust the pockets to fit the body + zoom in sideways.
