Body Glove

Body Glove

Bob and Bill Meistrell, the brothers who founded Body Glove, have always loved water… a passion that took them from the farm ponds of Missouri to the beaches of L.A.'s South Bay, where they discovered the thrill of surfing. In 1953 they borrowed $1800 and bought out the Dive 'n' Surf shop, eventually turning it into the top surfing and diving retail establishment in Southern California. Their search for a better wetsuit led them to develop neoprene, which in turn led to the invention of the first truly practical wetsuit. Stretchy, comfortable and warm, it opened up Southern California to year-round surfing. Water enthusiasts loved the suits which “fit like a glove” and so the name Body Glove was born. Innovation and cutting-edge design technology continues to drive Body Glove’s manufacture of wetsuits, PFDs and technical accessories for water lovers everywhere.

Comments:
I think the velcro closures at the neck are way too tight. The suit would have been much better designed had the zipper come up closer to the neck without all the flaps and extra material that really make you feel like you are choking.

i previously purchased and returned the long-sleeve Body Glove wetsuit-like swim top. So i was a little hesitant to get a wetsuit based on how the other piece had fit and that was just a top. but this was such a great price and had good reviews. i love it! it's so comfortable i could wear it all day long. the zipper pull is very long and so it's very easy to get on and off. i have used it for swimming in the pool in colder weather.

So I haven't had a chance to try this out in the water yet. I will try to put an update once it gets a proper use. The fit was very important for me. I actually tried a couple of different wetsuits until I found the one I wanted to keep. This one fits me well. The only complaint is that if you have large hips that it may be a bit difficult to get on. They have purposefully made the zipper a bit shorter to make the suit warmer but that means it is tighter going over the hips. This one was still better than the other brands I tried on though. Overall it is comfortable. Price can't be beat! I plan on using it for diving in Hawaii in Nov and April.

Comments:
Rash guard shirts are supposed to be tight, but I could have considered going 1 size larger (got the small - I'm 110 lbs, so generally thought of as small), although once I'm in the boat, I did not notice the fit of the shirt one way or another. Nice long sleeves. If you're shy about how your body looks & are going to be around other people when wearing it, you may want a slightly looser garment. It is comfortable. I use it when training/racing in canoes, kayaks, surfskis & outriggers.
