Would have given it a 5 if it had come with the paper work (owners manual). Images shared by: EvanslmtdInternals showing click drag mechanism Tags: Picture of Product
By Cane Rod from Charlotte, NC on 08/17/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Durable, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Traditionalist's rod
By Rog fly from Fresno, CA on 06/24/2008 Cons: Handle needs smoothing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A great little small rod reel, very traditional look. I you want to reverse the wind you have to be careful and not rush. If you do reverse it, it's a good time to take a little emery cloth to the handle to smooth out the edges. The edges on the handle are the only thing I think could use some work, especially in a reel in this price range. Other wise I love it (I own two). Best for a 4wt or smaller.
Not for tech freaks, but... By Kilchis Gray from Oregon on 06/11/2008 Best Uses: Small water flyfishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Changing from right to left hand retrieve requires thoughtful and careful disassembly. Looks great and works nicely on my bamboo rod. The high-modulus, disc-drag crowd won't 'get it.'
a decent small stream real By Dave the fly guy from Idaho on 05/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Best used on small streams or for brim. Will not hold more than 50 yards of kevlar backing & a WF5F. Will not hold 150 yards of 20# dacron backing & either a WF4F nor WF5F. Drag settings are very limited. It's fun & cute & completely useful but only for "small" fishing. Fun on spring creeks. If you need 100 yards of backing or a wide range of drag settings look elsewhere. Nice for the price!
By Riffledancer from Manville N.J. on 05/08/2008 Pros: Classic, Durable, Looks Great, Reliable, Well made Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As much as I love the reel.If you do not know what a Click and Pall drag system is ??? You may not like the reel and I would suggest doing your home work. The drag system is not smooth and is a bit loud..Yet if your looking for the classic look and feel by all means... This is the Ticket... and looks great on a Cane Rod
