By Prof. B from Kansas on 04/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity, Stable Best Uses: Commuting, Day Trips, Extended Hikes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: If it holds up, I would go up to a 4.5 or 5, but right now, my only complaint is that if you don't fill it up, it is hard to compress down so you end up with a lot of extra pack with nothing in it. Kind of like when you grill chicken and there's a ton of extra skin. You know it's not good for you, but at the same time it's not always worth dealing with.
By Gym Runner from Boston, MA on 04/04/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill, Highly Adjustable Best Uses: Day Trips, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It was between this pack and another, smaller one said to have a slightly larger capacity. That was the only reason I returned it.
By Scooter from Lexington, KY on 03/31/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Comfy out of the box, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity, Stable Cons: Plastic buckles look thin Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: took it to the red river gourge to try it out. stayed with my body during twisty climbs and stream hopping. Stuffed a lot of gear in it. Rode comfortable on my hips. Sweet deal.
By wamparoo from louisville, ky on 03/26/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a pack that I could take on a short day hike, something to stuff a poncho, some camera gear, food; whatever. It does the trick, but I got it because it said it had a rain cover. On most packs, that means that a rain cover comes from out of a pocket and covers the whole pack. Not so with this one. They just mean it has a waterproof lid...and thats about it. Was dissapointed about that, but not enough to send it back.
By Joe from Laramie, WY on 03/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity, Stable Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good for summer and winter day hikes, great deal.
By XR from Wyoming on 03/17/2009 Cons: Hard to remove framesheet Best Uses: Commuting, Day Trips, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Agree with all reviews. Surprised by the quality at this price. Simple top-loading bag with framesheet and really comfortable suspension/hipbelt. Buy one, load with 20+ lb., put it on and go. No worries. If labels don't get you excited, then this is a winner...rides like my buds'$$pack when I close my eyes. It might disintegrate in a few months, but it sure seems to be bombproof. At this price I can buy five and still spend less than the premium priced packs. I'll update my review after a season of use.
By snowman from Fairbanks, AK on 03/17/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Just as good as a Camelback at half the price

quality top-loading backpack By mudbug from WI on 03/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Excellent when loaded, Highly Adjustable, Stable Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The backpack has a superb suspension system, including lifters. The waist (I am 38-40 waist), chest and arm straps adjusted out to easily fit over my winter jacket (sized xl with synthetic insulation) and layers.
The pack is a simple top loader, made from tough looking cordura nylon. Top buckles down, and there is two side compression straps. The buckles look high quality, and are YKK brand.
The pack is designed to compress bulky items, would handle exterior items on the compression straps (I used them for a set of trekking poles). Excellent day hiker.
By Capt. Bob from Medina, OH on 03/02/2009 Best Uses: Day Trips, General utility use, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack was much better than expected at this price. While not a technical pack, it is configured to be flexible enough for many uses.
