I hang it in my tent for general lighting at night.(strap is included)
Great multipurpose light! By Bob from USA on 06/04/2009 Pros: Battery thrifty, Great price, Serves dual purposes Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great little backpacking light. There ARE lighter alternatives but at 4 times the price.
By Terry from Michigan on 06/04/2009 Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Very bright light to look at but very little illumination
By Jeff the engineer from Weatherford TX on 06/03/2009 Pros: Bright light, Dual function, Long Battery Life, Waterproof or resistant Best Uses: At home, Camping Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We mostly use this product around the house or in the car. At home, its torch mode (entered by sliding the globe along the length of the light) will be a safer alternative to a candle during power outages. The light is stable while standing on its end on a counter top.
It has one of those HB (high brightness) LEDs I believe...so it's very bright. The beam is well focused and I'd compare it's brightness to a 2-cell MagLite with an incandescent (non-LED) bulb.
The battery compartment is sealed with an o-ring. I don't know this for sure, but the entire light could be waterproof, or at least it's water resistant. STP's website didn't say it's waterproof.
The only con for this flashlight: the on-off switch is difficult to operate. Once you get the hang of it, it's okay and the knurled surfaces definitely help in this regard. I think it's become easier to operate after a few operations.
By Jess from Denver, CO on 05/24/2009 Pros: Bright, Compact, Long Battery Life Cons: Confusing Battery Install, Not Adjustible Best Uses: Camping, Car, House Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This flashight is used mostly for camping and hiking. Light and compact, but puts out a serious beam. Torch function is great as a tent light. Textured grip is great when hands are wet. Great battery life. Battery compartment is a little confusing when installing. Brightness in not adjustable.
By vic from mount vernon, indiana on 05/19/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very bright light small enough to carry with you, would recommend
By Doug in CO. from Colorado Springs on 04/28/2009 Pros: Bright light, Knurled aluminum grip, Light Weight, Long Battery Life, Low Price, Well Made Cons: Very stiff on-off switch Best Uses: Camping, Emergency Kit, Hiking Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very impressed with the little light. Gives off a strong beam of light and the lantern feature is very handy - not exactly bright enough to read by but certainly enough light to illuminate the interior of a 2-person tent. Have seen it priced much higher [$])on other websites that cater to backpackers. Smokin' deal!
Super Bright, Super Tough By Otter_Mary from Fort Collins, CO on 04/08/2009 Best Uses: Camping, Emergency Household Light Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I needed a nice lantern for camping, this is perfect. Might not be as good for actual BACKPACKING, because it doesn't compact very easily. Perfect for car camping and inside your tent!
Okay, but not great, led lantern By Baja Dave from Granada Hills, CA on 04/01/2009 Pros: Compact, Reasonably bright, Seems fairly durable Cons: Light is not even, Not as bright as I'd hope, Takes 4 "D" cell batterie Best Uses: Emergency Light Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm sure there are better lights on the market now, with more light, and more diffuse light. And since the prices are coming down, this one is probably not a great buy. The 4 "D" cell batteries should make it last a long time, but also make it heavier than an LED light needs to be.
By Susan from Santa Barbara on 03/30/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is an LED lantern, so it gives alot of light without running down the
batteries right away, as a florescent tube would do. It also has a handy
hook for hanging.
