A bit too snug for my 10 lbs Chihuahua. Perfect for 6-7 pounders. That should help you size it right for your canine family member.
"Lil'Rascal" will look TOO COOL in this coat once he can wear it without peeing on it! (When it fits snugger around his belly) ;-)

We ended up using it on my roommate's 17 year old blue heeler who was declining and couldn't stay warm. This was wonderful for him, it kept him comfortable in his last months of life. It was easy to put on and take off, we washed it several times with ease, it was perfect.

These run not only "a full size too small" but I would say even two or three sizes too small. I have two cockaliers, medium to medium-small in size and even the large/xlarge size would not fit around their middle...and they're definitely not overweight dogs! I was so bummed because these are really darling and would have been very nice for the dogs in our frigid Chicagoland winters. I give it a three star rating only because the sizing is sooooo off--and I say I would recommend it to a friend but that would only be to a friend with SMALL dogs! Quality and looks-wise they're great.

I have been using this for a small bird (sun conure) for short trips. However I do not trust the closure so constant supervision is required. Quality of materials and construction is fairly poor(glue drips onto fleece, fairly cheep appearing hardware and inside pocket) and I was going to return this but right away the conure found this to be intresting (fuzzy fleece I guess) so we kept it. If nothing else he appears to have fun trying to destroy it.

I can't comment on its usage or warmth. For size reference, the x/s size 8 fits a little too large for my 4 1/2 pound Yorkie. He's fine boned. (But it is his anyways.) It does fit my 9 pound Yorkie, but it's a little snug going over his head. So I'd say a size 8 fits 6 to 8 pound dogs best.
I absolutely love the color and bomber style. It is very well made and seems like it will be perfect for winter. I have priced other leather dog jackets, this is the best deal I could find.

I just wish there were other colors. It is so great to have the D-ring, less work because I don't have to also put on a harness.

Well, I thought it would be alright for my cat, so I bought it ... but it's going back. Think about it. The collar is 8" long ... that's the length of a bracelet, or a watchband, and it won't go around any animals neck, unless perhaps your hamster, or ferrett would like a nice leather collar, as the collar it's self is very nice, it's just too darn small!
