Calzeat

Calzeat

Located amongst the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, Calzeat marries traditional weaving customs with modern jacquard looms to create lovely and unique accessories for your wardrobe and home. Calzeat weaves a little bit of Scotland into every jacquard, using soft, homespun fibers like lambswool, silk, mohair and camelhair. Calzeat’s design team also uses bouclés and "effect" yarns like chenille to produce one-of-a-kind textiles that complement your own artistic inclinations. A few of their newer products are actually made in the Far East, but they still bear the yarns, designs and colors of the enchanting Scottish countryside that inspired them.

Comments:
I did detect some odor upon receiving this product, but I just took it out of the plastic bag it came in and let it sit out in the air to subside the odor, and it is better. I will probably also put it in the dryer on low or no heat with fabric softener sheets to make sure the odor is all gone as I bought this throw for a gift and wouldn't want the receiver to detect any strange odor. This throw is lovely and VERY attractive and a very good value. I did not think it was especially soft or rough and is very useable for its purpose. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.

Calzeat Jacquard Throw Blanket
By CJ from Warren, OH on 12/04/2008
Pros:
Attractive Design
Cons:
Edges not sewn, Poor Insulation, See-thru thin, Smells like mechanic shop, Uncomfortable
Best Uses:
Year-round
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The only thing going for it is it's name. If you say it's wool I'll have to take your word for it. It smells like it's been in a mechanic shop for years. Too thin to be of any use, edges not sewn, not warm. Does have a pretty design.

I ordered several of these for gifts and was very pleasantly surprised that they are made in Scotland. I will keep two for our own use. The smell was quite pronounced and I washed one with care. It eliminated the odor and softened it a bit. The colors are subtle and the weave is wonderful. I would compare these to a very large shawl.
