By Tim from Kansas City, KS on 12/12/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is beautifully made. I tried this and a Barbour Beaufort tweed jacket. This jacket is much nicer (matreials, fit and cut). The drawback is that I am a 46 jacket and a 38 pant waist, but this jacket would easily feet a 50 chest and 46 waist with room to wear bulky clothes underneath. I looked all over the net to find the real measurements of these jackets and couldn't find anything for Chrysalis (their website is under construction). Barbour adds 10 inches to their jackets as "chest tolerence" making a Barbour 48 an actual 58 (about a 58 waist, too), so the Chrysalis is better than the Barbour for sizing, but that isn't saying much. I am having the wool part of this jacket taken in about two inches per side to fix the jacket's "bell like" apearance. You can alter the tweed without affecting the waterproof (think generic Gore-tex)membrane. Still a good deal after tailoring considering the only other way to get this jacket is to import it from England and pay the retail price.
By alex from Portland OR on 12/03/2008 Describe Yourself: Trendy/Stylish Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: wonderful coat = I wasn't going to order this since they stop at size 44 and I normally wear a 46 -- but since coats run big sometimes, I took a chance on a 44 -- I got it and it fits excellent and is a joy to wear -- this is the real deal. I think the more people wear quality products like this -- the more we will realize that the stuff from [...] just isn't worth your time. I plan to keep this coat for the rest of my life.
First rate product and a true bargain By Ian from Frederick MD on 11/26/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Daily Use, Outdoor Activities, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: One of the best shooting jackets around. I priced it in Jermyn Street in London a few week ago where it was over double the price and did not come in a long fitting. The combination of tweed outer with Goretex inner is unbeatable.
By Fireman Bill from Texas on 11/22/2008 Pros: Durable, Good Value, High Quality Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This coat can handle anything from field use to casual elegance in the city (with a country-gentleman flavor). My caution is to be careful of sizing. I'm a 42R & ordered the Large, which would fit a 44R wearing a bulky sweater. The Medium is just about perfect.

I saw a very similar one in the men's dept.of one of New York's best department stores a year or so ago. It was very expensive.

The fabric is great and looks terrific.

By Mac from Boston, MA on 11/08/2008 Cons: Lining is poly not wool Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Chrysalis coats are much more expensive in mens clothing stores selling traditional clothing. I would have preferred the woolen lining, used in the top end coats.
By Purty from Canada on 11/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a size 38S, and I bought a size S, which is supposed to be size 34-36. When I got the coat, it was enormous. Everything about it was too large. I had to spend around $170 to get the whole coat "remade" to fit my body. The end result is, however, stunning. I believe even the extra $170 I spent on tailoring is worth the price I am paying for this beautifully made coat.
Exactly what I thought I was buying By E. from New York City on 09/19/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Warm Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks really nice and the cut is very true to size. Very well-made. I'm a 40 chest and the 40 in this coat with either a t-shirt or thin sweater fits just right, but has room for a thicker sweater. The only thing I don't like, and I did know this when I bought it, is that it is unlined (except the sleeves). That said, the material is heavy (about LL. Bean wool blanket weight heavy) and not itchy.
