Perfect All Round Jacket! By Delmarco from Westchester, NY on 10/20/2007 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Plenty Features, Versatile, Waterproof Cons: Loose stiching, Not very warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Ice climber Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great Jacket! I own a few Mammut tops and this one is my favorite go-to Jacket.
The Light BC is alot thinner and lighter than it looks, which is great for rainy Spring days or moist Autumn nights, but this is not the jacket you want for winter or snow sports (I learned the hard way) even though it is cool looking enough to hit the slopes with.
One problem is stitching quality. Even though the jacket's underside laminate is watertight the seam threads on the exterior looks to be regular cotton and a few of them around the cuffs and hemline came loose on their own over the last year of ownership. Other than that this is a perfect jacket for the price.
Warmth, Performance & Perfection in 14oz By Delmarco from Westchester, NY on 10/20/2007 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Good Cut, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Bad Weather, Daily Use, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Career, Outdoor Enthusiast, Trendy Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great Jacket. I got the Pumpkin/Carbon color which gets dirty easier than I like so I reserve it for Cold weather trail running and biking. This is one of the warmest jackets for the weight I've ever owned. Its alot warmer than it looks and with pit zips and great breathability you won't get too sweaty in it after long morning runs.
It also gets alot of compliments on the NYC Subways. What more can you ask for from your jacket.
Looks & fits great, but not warm! By Delmarco from Westchester, NY on 10/20/2007 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Fits comfortable, Lightweight, Looks cool, Water Resistant Cons: Inadequate Protection, Not warm, Not windproof Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great looking Jacket that is sadly not the most weatherproof. I enjoy colder weather but felt way too cold in this jacket with two thin layers under it after temps dipped into the low 40s (with lots of wind). It looks bombproof, but the wind blows right through to your bones. I reserve it for cool summer nights, late spring/early fall day hikes. Anything more extreme this jacket becomes deadweight in your pack. It is breathable and the MAMMUT patent stretch material moves with your body perfectly. But it also fits slim so you can't really layer up with more than 2 long sleeve tops under it. What worked for me was a polypro tee and a thin windstopper fleece (TNF Wind X shirt) top under the Anabol which kept me warm and comfortable down to 45 degrees during one overnight camping trip. Other than that the Anabol is for urban pursuits.
By Andy from Outside at all times... on 10/19/2007 Pros: Breathable, Lightweight, Waterproof Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great jacket. I'm with the previous review.....I bought this jacket for cycling and commuting. It is a thin soft shell, so definitely a perfect jacket for high output activities. If you are going to be lounging around in cold weather, don't get this. Love the "pit" vents to keep me cool when I'm cranking on the bike. The lack of inner lining fleece makes it breathe well, and I don't find myself heating up too much when exercising in it. I love this piece.
By Commuting Cyclist from Atlanta GA on 10/12/2007 Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just got my jacket so this is not a rating of performance - just a rating of design. The description here doesn't mention the large zippered rear pocket nor the zipped handwarmer pockets. The front zipper can be unzipped from top and bottom. The wrists have hook and loop closures. The collar and waist have cinch cords. The zip off sleeves do not fully close by design - there is a gap of about an inch and a half right at the pit. Finish and attention to detail are top notch. I plan to use mine for cycling.
Great jacket, would highly recommend! By Elizabeth from Washington, DC on 10/08/2007 Pros: Good for tall women, Slim fit not bulky, Warm Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wow. This jacket is really top-of-the-line as far as women's down jackets. I find Mammut products to be especially good for women over 5'8, and this jacket is no exception. (I often have a problem with Mountain Hardwear gear being too short in the arms and torso.) A size XS is perfect for a size 4 who wants a trim, but moveable fit.
