Columbia Footwear

Columbia Sportswear Company may not be known first and foremost for their shoes and boots. Yet Columbia’s line of rugged, stylish shoes and boots matches its outerwear in terms of durability and popular appeal. In 1938, Columbia started off in Portland, Oregon, as a small company making only hats, but began designing outdoor footwear decades later when the company became synonymous with outdoor apparel. Columbia footwear includes everything from waterproof Gore-Tex® men’s hiking boots to casual women’s clogs. Look at the wide range of Columbia boots, designed with insulation and waterproof membranes for winter boots or with Vibram® soles and tough leather uppers for hiking boots. Or check out Columbia’s casual and performance shoes, ranging from trail running shoes to sandals to slip-on hiking shoes.

Comments:
Last year I had tried Columbia's Icetrel II boots, and loved them. Unfortunately, my pair was defective and failed after a few months and I was not able to replace them (size unavailable). So since then I have been on the look out for a similar boot, and tried these. I've only owned them for a couple months, but I am very pleased. They run just a tad small and have a short break-in period, so don't worry if they at first feel a little tight. I find them quite comfortable (even for someone with wide feet) and they do give some ankle support without being restrictive. I wouldn't recommend them for rough work or, say, aggressive adventuring - not built stoutly enough for that. But as a daily winter boot to run outside and shovel snow, bring groceries in, misc light work etc., they seem perfect. They look good too, so I wouldn't think twice of throwing them on and going into town. The traction seems good; certainly quite adequate. They're slender and not bulky in appearance, thus they look good and they feel good - not clumsly or heavy at all. And even in single degree temps this week, my feet have stayed toasty warm. They're stated as waterproof and have proved to be so (though admittedly I have not tested this to any great extent). All in all, comfortable, warm, stylish... a great boot at the Sierra price!

These boots are really comfortable, but lightweight!! They are also stylish enough to wear with anything from pants to long skirts. They are true to size. I live in the WV mountains where we get a lot of Winter weather and I anticipate that they will get a lot of wear.
