Commonwealth Home Fashions

Commonwealth Home Fashions

In 1946 five brothers who came home from the war established Commonwealth Home Fashions, named after their Royal Air Force squadron. Commonwealth’s window treatments had nothing to do with WWII, but a lot to do with creating cheer in the homes of the returning soldiers. Commonwealth curtains and window treatments brightened homes throughout Canada and England with their graceful design and beautiful details. Through the years, these talented brothers brought their decorative touch to bedding sets, comforters, throw pillows and shower curtains. Now you can create a whole new look for your home with superb quality home fashions from Commonwealth.

Commonwealth Home Fashions Ming Faux Silk Shantung Curtain Panels - Paired

pretty but thin and shiny
By sleepy cat from Maryland on 11/10/2009
Pros:
Beautiful Material, Great Color, Quality Construction
Cons:
Too Transparent
Best Uses:
Living Room
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
These are pretty overall, though quite shiny - which to me looks cheaper than a more matte finish. But I do like the weave of the fabric, and the color is lovely. The silver rings are very prominent against the dark blue material. They are also very sheer - I was expecting them to be somewhat see-through, after other reviews, but not quite this much. If someone is standing outside, there might as well be no curtain when the lights are on. I plan to add a liner. Incidentally, they will also need ironing - after a week, the wrinkles and dents from the rings are still there. I would not recommend these to a friend without reservations, but would if they knew the drawbacks.

Cons:
Poor Design, Too stiff, Unattractive
Best Uses:

Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Primary use:
Personal
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I wanted to use these as room darkeners behind the beautiful faux ming silk panels I ordered from Sierra. These panels are too stiff, do not fold well into the other folds of the other panels. They would be great to keep the light out but I feel they are not attractive from the outside and they are too stiff.

These drapes don't come CLOSE to being able to block the sunlight! Stitching on the "hems" is a little too obvious, too.

I used these curtains in a family room. The window pane design was perfect for the sheers to take on a more casual look and add a bit of privacy screen.

These were such a great price, I was amazed at how high quality they are. Everyone admires them. They don't come with matching tie-backs, but I'd still buy them again.

Very attractive curtain panels. Unfortunately they do not block the light as well as I had hoped - I bought the suggested blackout panels but they did not hang nice or even look good form the outside. Love the curtains though. Beautiful colors.

Nice curtains
By hc from Denver, CO on 10/27/2009
Pros:
Attractive Design, Durable
Best Uses:
Master Bedroom
Describe Yourself:
Midrange Shopper
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Product dimensions were accurate and average quality. I was looking to cover a large master bedroom window and these are working well. They were quite wrinkled, but a quick 5 minutes in the dryer worked to eliminate most of them.
