Commonwealth Home Fashions

Commonwealth Home Fashions

In 1946 five brothers who came home from the war established Commonwealth Home Fashions, named after their Royal Air Force squadron. Commonwealth’s window treatments had nothing to do with WWII, but a lot to do with creating cheer in the homes of the returning soldiers. Commonwealth curtains and window treatments brightened homes throughout Canada and England with their graceful design and beautiful details. Through the years, these talented brothers brought their decorative touch to bedding sets, comforters, throw pillows and shower curtains. Now you can create a whole new look for your home with superb quality home fashions from Commonwealth.

Even though I like wide open views, I needed curtains to minimize heat in summer and cold in winter. I think these curtains will meet my needs and help reduce my power bill.

Comments:
I purchased this curtain to hang in my three-season room, hoping to keep the heat in for extended winter use and the heat out for extended summer use. The color was of concern but it works so well with the other greens in the room. The curtain hangs straight, works as I desired it to. I had planned to sew my own, but could not begin to match this price for the quality.

Comments:
I bought these to darken light coming in an east bedroom window. The curtains are made of a nice fabric. They drape well and look nice. The lining probably insulates noise and outside heat or cold (I have new windows and those aren't problems for me) but does very little to darken the room which is the problem I bought them to correct. They are really nice curtains for the price and I love the 72" length because I live in an old house with long windows and baseboard heat and they cover the windows and sills but hang above the baseboard. Unfortunately, the early morning sun still gets through and wakes me up. I bought the sand color... maybe a darker color would have worked better but it would look terrible in my little bedroom. I would recommend the curtains for everything except room darkening.

These are really nice, and I like the mossy green color. They were easy to hang, although the creases from being packaged didn't disappear, as I had hoped. They block out light very well, and we're amazed at the amount of cold they block in the winter, and the heat they kept out this summer. Very good purchase.

I hung these curtains on our sliding glass door/patio entry. They give good privacy and will insulate in the winter. They were wrinkled but fluffed them in the drier for a smoother look.

Bought both burgundy and cafe to combine panels for living/dining room. Since valances were not available I bought an extra pair to make tailored valances and have extra fabric for accent pillows. The cafe color is a perfect coffee-and-cream shade. I'm getting paint the same color for all the trim work in my way too beige rooms!
