By Flyfech3 from Thornton Co on 09/19/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing, Small Fish Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought 2 of these rods for my 4 and 3 year old boys. They have loved learning to cast and a 6.5ft rod is a lot easier than a 9ft rod.
By Acesover from East Central Florida on 08/22/2008 Pros: Easy Casting, Line Doesn't Tangle Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After having used an Orvis Intermediate line that was the worst tangling ling I have ever had the misfortune to cast, I bought one of these lines in a 7wt and have been happy as can be. No tangles, no constant stretching, and casts great! Works well in the warm Florida weather too!
This rod will put a smile on your face! By Speckchaser from Ocean Springs, MS on 08/08/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wish I had this setup 40 years ago when I was fishing the mountain streams of WV for trout and smallmouth as a kid--it would have been perfect. For now, I'm using it to chase bluegills and crappie in MS. I've got it matched with a very small Tica Fishmaster and it balances nicely. I've only tried it with a quality WF4 and it casts the line long, smooth, and strong. Of all the rods I have (way too many--thanks to STP), this one puts the biggest grin on my face. As far as the finish on the pole--I love it. As a matter of fact, I liked the rod and finish so much that I ordered the 4 pc 8wt Endurance as my new traveling Redfish/Bonefish rod. These are very fine rods--don't miss out.
By Raffpap from Medical Lake, WA on 07/23/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Durable, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own four Cortland Endurance rods of various lengths and weights. IMO, this is the only one that is a true fast action. The others seem like medium action rods. To put it bluntly, this 8.5 5-weight is a stick. It casts incredibly well and is great for distance casting. In fact, I can cast further with it than I can with my Endurance 9' and 9.5 rods. I will definitely be getting another. Highly recommend!
By Raffpap from Medical Lake, WA on 07/23/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Durable, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After having now used this rod in rivers, I felt it necessary to submit a follow-on review. While I wasn't overly impressed with this rod with sinking line on lakes, I have since learned to appreciate it's "soft" action on rivers while using floating line. Being that this rod performs more like a medium action rod, it is sensitive enough to withstand jarring strikes while drifting or swinging soft hackle patterns in rivers. In the past I suffered a lot of "snap-offs" with my fast action rods that are better suited for lakes. In three days of fishing rivers, I've found this Cortland Endurance rod is flexible and soft enough to absorb the impact when fish strike at the end of a swing. IMO, this rod is best suited for rivers and is a great performer on moving water! Highly recommend!
Good Inexpensive Warm Water Line By yakattk from Ellicott City MD on 07/16/2008 Pros: Durable, Easy Casting, Line Doesn't Tangle Describe Yourself: Professional Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We go through a bunch of lines every year, summertime fishing for smallies. Great to have a source for replacement fly lines that don't break the bank.
The best for small streams! By Mr. Brookman from Murrieta, CA on 07/13/2008 Pros: Accurate Casting, Easy To Transport, Flexible, Good Tip Action, Sensitive Best Uses: Fly Fishing, River Fishing Describe Yourself: Casual Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchases this rod for use on small streams, where space is at a premium. With little room to manuever, I have been able to pinpoint my casts, and the action is 2nd to none.
