Five Ten

Five Ten

Five Ten is a family-owned company dedicated to producing superior climbing shoes, approach shoes and outdoor footwear. Founded by veteran rock climber Charles Cole in 1985, Five Ten has been reinventing the climbing shoe since day one. Starting by creating an all-new, high-friction rubber compound for shoe soles that he would later dub "Stealth," Cole set out to enhance gripping power and make rock climbing safer in the process. Today, Five Ten climbing shoes like the Anasazi slipper and Prima shoe are worn by some of the world’s best rock climbers. In fact, even endorsed climbers who are paid to wear shoes by other companies resole with Five Ten’s Stealth climbing soles. When it comes to performance on the rock face, few other companies hold a candle to Five Ten shoes.

Five Ten T-Rock Climbing Shoes (For Men and Women)

well....
By mountainmama from Colorado Springs, Co on 11/05/2009
Cons:
Uncomfortable
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Sizing:
Feels full size too small
Width:
Feels true to width
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The rubber that wraps around the heel of the shoe has shrunk. Thus when you put your foot in your toes are jammed to the front and there is a big gap at the heel. I ordered two different sizes of the same style and they were both the same way.

Five Ten V-10 Climbing Shoes (For Men)

Full size too small
By Jon from TX on 10/30/2009
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Not Adjustable, Uncomfortable
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Sizing:
Feels full size too small
Width:
Feels too narrow
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I was unable to use these shoes because they were one size too small. I wear size 12 and instantly knew there was a problem when the soles of the shoes were smaller than my foot. The upper material was very rigid and had zero flexibility. The shoe also tapers towards the top, smashing your toes together. I should have just gone with store bought to avoid this trouble.

Comments:
These are old school shoes. They were one of my first pairs and I absolutely loved them! The only thing that I found difficult is that my laces snapped many times...a easy to resolve issue. However, the rubber on the heels has peeled back numerous times. Since heel hooking is one of my most necessary tools in my bag of tricks this does greatly effect my climbing experience. Overall great shoe! Why would it still be around after 10 years if it wasn't a good model!?

Got this as my first climbing shoe. I was using some friends shoes and this shoe performs much better. I have a slim foot and this shoe is perfect for me.

Read the other reviews and bought a size 4.5 for my 9yr old who normally wears a 3.5, and they were still at least a half size too small. Looks like a great shoe, but in these sizes definately for tiny feet.

Five Ten T-Rock Climbing Shoes (For Men and Women)

good shoe, terrible sizing
By New to OutdoorVerified Reviewer from Missouri on 05/29/2009
Pros:
Lightweight
Cons:
Uncomfortable
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Sizing:
Feels full size too small
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Climbing shoes are supposed to be snug, but due to the discrepency between sizing and fit, the shoe was much too small. I think it would have been a good shoe, had I been able to get the correct size. They fit nicely while I was climbing, but my feet were screaming to be let out by the time I was back on solid ground.

I climb at least three days a week...try to get in four days if I can. The Anasazi laceup shoe is a great shoe. I have a pair of the Anasazi Velcro. I bought what I thought was a US 5 1/2 Womens, the chart states comparable to size 4..I doubted this but when ahead and purchased this size. Whoa! Way off! If they had had my correct size , I would have exhanged them, especially for the price! This is a solid shoe but DO QUESTION their sizing chart.
