Didn't make it to the trail By Rocky mountain hiker from Denver, CO on 05/12/2009 Pros: Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Cons: Not Comfortable, Squeak Best Uses: Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The basic fit of the boot was great. But the tongue bit into the front of my ankle. Since it hurt walking around the house, they didn't make it to a trail test.
By Joodly from Gibsonia (Pittsburgh area), PA on 05/05/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Wide footbed Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: While this shoe is not meant to offer ankle support, it grounds the foot in a wide footbed and holds the heel snugly, supports the arch adequately and is instantly comfortable. I experienced NO need for break-in, just put them on and forgot about them. The protected toecap will add to their durability, they grip uneven terrain and while they're not intended to be stylish, so I hesitated to check "everyday wear," they can go just about anywhere. A terrific mud/rain shoe that keeps my feet dry and happy!

I travel a lot and do hike on these trip, so thought these may be good for a variety of terrain. I know others said that they were ugly, but I really like how they look/color!

Good stability and a roomy toebox. Overall a really nice shoe, but I think I need a half size up in the vented version.
By Gianna's Mommy from MA on 04/16/2009 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are really nice shoes. By greengirl from boulder, co on 04/13/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a good, sturdy hiking shoe. The color is...well, icky. But for the price it's a great buy. If you care more about support and stability than aesthetics, here's your shoe.
By dlc from Maine from Maine on 04/10/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are definitely nice looking, I've received many compliments on them! The traction is great though I haven't taken them out on the trails yet. I agree with another comment about them lacking arch support, the tongue seems to slip to the side quite a bit, and it's taken a week or so to break them in. Wouldn't have paid full price for them.
Garmont fits my feet the best! By Hiking Mom from Gardnerville, NV on 04/06/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have another pair of Garmont hiking boots. They are the most comfortable boots I have ever owned, but they are not waterproof (Gortex). I bought these and they fit the same as my other ones! I like that have more room in the ball section of the boot.
