Should have gotten a half size smaller By Trad from Whitefish, MT on 03/30/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Poor Cushioning Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I probably should have stuck with my normal size, but because there were so many reviews about these shoes being a half size small, I ordered a half size larger than normal.
They seem uncomfortable on paved walking paths, but hopefully will work out, using some cushioning insoles, on real trails for light duty.

A Really Sturdy Trail Shoe By Dr. Mary from Austin on 03/20/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a walking shoe that is so sturdy and apparently well-built that it requires a little breaking in. I wore mine around the house for an afternoon before I took them out on the trail. What I really like about these shoes is the roomy footbed and rubber toe bumper---they're comfortable and still great for any terrain. They are a little on the heavy side, but my feet feel protected and the shoes are not cumbersome. I would buy them again.
By Willow from TN on 03/16/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought an earlier version of these several years ago and they lasted the entire 2000+ miles of the Appalachian Trail. A little heavy, but worth the support and durability.
By cub from heuvelton ny on 03/13/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear them to classes, when i'm walking the dogs and when I'm at work. They are comfortable and offer a lot of support. I notice my feet do not feel tired.
By Skier/Instructor from Central Pennsylvania on 03/11/2009 Pros: Quality Construction Best Uses: All Mountain, Downhill Describe Yourself: Advanced Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just had the liners heat molded and took them to the hill. Not suprisingly, my right foot fell asleep anyway. Nothing new there. Happily, even when I had to loosen the buckles, the boots worked well. My theory is that AT boots will be perfect for my hours as an instructor teaching beginners and chasing after 3 year olds on the "Magic Mountain."
STP- Thanks for stocking something of high quality in a small size.
By Day Hiker girl from Santa Rosa, CA on 03/09/2009 Pros: Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these to wear on my April week long trip to Yosemite. These are my first pair of "real" hiking boots, so I think I was a bit over-sensitive when trying these out. At first they were stiff and irritated my ankles, however, this was when trying to break them in around the house. They are actually much more comfortable on the trail. Bottom line, great-looking and very sturdy boots. Waterproof (I happily splashed around in puddles and my feet remained warm and dry)with very solid ankle support. I would just recommend giving yourself a good amount of time to break them in and expect a bit of discomfort in the process. Awesome deal!
By Griff from Afton, WY on 03/09/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Snow slush and icy roads Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are great for winter runs. They have wonderful traction on hard pack. Very water resistant. I usually get my running shoes in 10.5, but had to return them for 10. Not too stiff while still providing good support.
