I got them for outdoor farm work. They are relatively light, but very warm. They are fairly thick, so you don't have great manual dexterity, but that is the tradeoff for the warmth. I definitely recommend these.

They give you the warmth of mittens, but the flexibility of gloves. The inside lining of these mittens is very soft and warm. The only drawback is that they are not water resistant, but I'm not planning on using them in really wet snow.

Go by the letter size, not the numerical By Kris T from Twin Cities, MN on 11/02/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Snug Fit, Stylish, Windproof Best Uses: Casual Wear, Dress wear, Driving Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These gloves are beautiful, soft, and warm -- just the thing for dressy wear in Minnesota winters. I was hoping for something to fit my very long fingers, so I went with the "10." I should have paid attention to the fact that they said "L" rather than XL. I am curious as to what the 10 refers to. Fortunately, they fit my 12-year old daughter just fine.

They're not work gloves, so it you are handling materials they'll wear. But, they are perfect for holding the dogs leash, driving, opening the mailbox, tossing a frisbee in the snow!
