| In the late 80's women's athletic shoes were mostly scaled down versions of men's styles. Ryka founder Sheri Poe was frustrated by the lack of athletic footwear designed to meet the needs of women. So she did what any frustrated woman with an entrepreneurial spirit would do – she started her own company to meet the need. All Ryka shoes are molded to the shape of woman's foot. Narrow heels prevent foot slippage and blisters, while the wider forefoot gives toes room to move and flex. Ryka supports women's fitness with more than just comfortable, wel-fitted footwear. Ryka is a proud supporter of the women's fitness community, sponsoring walks, runs and fitness events for women every year. Wore it right out of the box for our daily 3-5 mile walks with no problems.
I'll buy another pair for a gift.

I walk almost everyday and these shoes are great! Since they are designed to fit a woman's foot, they seemed a bit snug. Once I broke them in (which didn't take long), they fit perfectly!
I wear a 9M in most shoes and the Ryka 9 fits great. After wearing these shoes, I couldn't go back to my old athletic shoes. They are excellent for fast-paced walking. I appreciate how Ryka designed the back of the shoe to have extra cushioning, on the sides above the heel. Ryka's walking shoes are the most comfortable and supportive pair of athletic shoes I've ever owned.
