Scarpa of Italy was literally "born in a barn" back in 1951. Founder Luigi Parisotto began his footwear career in a small outbuilding, crafting hand-made shoes for the local residents with a near-fanatical attention to detail. After acquiring a flawless reputation with the locals, Luigi switched from farmer boots to mountaineering boots… and Scarpa of Italy was off and running, not to mention hiking and skiing and climbing. Scarpa of Italy has a reputation today that is second to none. With the latest shoe and boot technology applied to a wide range of outdoor disciplines, Scarpa of Italy manufactures superior footwear for adventurers who recognize and appreciate it. ... Less

I'm planning on buying another pair soon By bdb from Abiquiu, NM on 03/16/2010 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable, Great Traction, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a pair of US made hiking boots. Failing that, I at least found a pair of non-Chinese made. That's just a political aside brought up early in Ted Kennedy's career btw. These are comfortable, somewhat stiff, very sturdy hikers. Good traction, good fit. I'll definitely be buying another pair before these get made elsewhere. These are heavy duty, by my standards, so they will be my winter hikers. I hiked thru snow last w/e and they kept my feet warm & dry.
By Ryan J from Chattanooga, TN on 03/15/2010 Pros: Lightweight, Versatile Best Uses: Bouldering, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Best shoes on the market?
By bikerskier from Spokane, WA on 03/14/2010 Pros: Comfortable, Quality Construction, Warm Best Uses: All Mountain, Powder, Touring Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the 4th set of Scarpa thermo liners I've had in both tele and AT boots the past few years. I use them for backcountry skiing 90% of the time and get in 50+ days per year. Get them molded by a reputable shop and they are super comfy. I never blister, have warm feet and they dry overnight if pulled out of the boot. I am short 5'2" and have problems with taller liners which put too much pressure on my calf muscles. These are hands down the best!
