About Scientific Anglers Flies & More
|
You've tied the perfect fly, the one you know will get that big guy. But will your fly line and leader be up to the job? Scientific Anglers fly lines and leaders are engineered to provide just the right line for any fishing condition. Scientific Anglers Fly Lines use 3M Microballoons™ for floating lines that keep your fly off the bottom. Their sinking lines keep your fly in a specific strike zone. And their leaders are thin and lightweight and have exceptional strength and durability. Scientific Anglers L2L (line-to-leader) ”simple twist” technology lets you quickly change line tips, leaders, and flies while it doubles as a strike indicator. You'll leave less fish lurking in the depths and have more in your creel when you use Scientific Anglers fly lines and leaders.

Scientific Anglers, now a division of 3-M, was founded in 1945 by avid fly fishermen who knew the sport well and knew what the customer wanted. The founders realized that sometimes anglers want the line to sink and sometimes to float. Old fly lines were made of silk, had limited float capacity, would sink once they were soaked and took a long time to dry out.
Scientific Anglers invented the first true floating fly lines, giving the angler more control. Schools of fishermen would crowd the stores to purchase this new product from Scientific Anglers. Other innovative products followed: sinking lines, shooting lines, tapered lines, the first balanced rod and reel system. Today
Scientific Anglers is leading the way again with thinner, stronger lines, silicone-coated lines, see-through waterproof fly boxes, line-to-leader "simple twist" connectors and pre-rigged systems.
Scientific Anglers has also eliminated the use of lead in sinking lines, helping to protect our waterways. At the epicenter of the fly fishing world today,
Scientific Anglers doesn't have to fish for compliments… they caught their limit a long, long time ago.

Bottom Line:

Comments:
As a fisherman of 60 years, I have no patience for fools who covet overpriced gear for status satisfaction. I am reminded of lures that are designed to catch fishermen, not fishes. This reel is a great value, teriffic bang for the buck. It has a large arbor, disc drag, and operates smoothly. You could pay hundreds more dollars for a reel, but I doubt you could get one much better. What more do you want? Caveat: Not good for suckers; you'll need a reel 20 times as expensive for that.
Good tippet material and a great price !
