It all started in 1918 when Nathan Schwarz began his boot-making career as an apprentice stitcher in Boston, Massachusetts. After mastering the trade, he ventured out and bought the Abington Shoe Company and together with his sons, began manufacturing shoes for major retailers. A wide range of casual and performance shoes, boots, and sandals - as well as luggage and apparel - came next and solidified Timberland’s place at the top of the market.
