ABO Gear Tripod Shelter

I was looking for a light weight shelter, and this is that. The set up is a bit cumbersome, and definitely requires at least two people and a lot of space for assembling the poles. It is large-- good space and shade-- and provides protection in the rain as long as the wind doesn't drive the rain under the shelter. However, we have found that putting it up and taking it down is hard if there isn't a lot of space, (i.e., if we are in a place with a lot of other people.) We have taken it to the beach, and the beach winds, (average, not unusually strong,) caused the seams to rip. Overall, the item isn't terrible, but I wouldn't buy it again.

i set it up in the living room by myself in about 5 minutes.....very sturdy when open and nicely compact when closed.

This is a great shelter. Large enough to sit several people under it or over a picnic table. You def. need two people to set it up and don't use it when it's windy out.

I loved the design but found it to be rather difficult to set up and take down. We used it at the beach and when the wind picked up, the entire canopy almost laid down flat. We used sand bags but one of the poles split from the pressure caused by the wind. I feel it would best be used camping, a backyard gathering, or lake - but not best for the beach.

Overall a pretty nice shelter, especially for the price. It has some ability to be adjusted for sun direction but not a ton. Or I haven't quite figured that out yet. It is a little cumbersome to set up and I have a lot of experience with tents, perhaps I was just surprised at the amount of force needed. But I will continue to use this on my patio and for camping and the beach.

I was excited to see this shelter available. I had been looking for something like this for years. The down side is that it is a little bit heavier then I expected. It is very hard to set up on a breezy day and one of the poles broke the first time I used it. When calling for help the people were nice but had to tell them the same thing three seprate times before it was addressed. I am looking forward to trying again and hoping it will work.

We purchased this shelter to use at the beach. We practiced setting it up at home before we left to make sure we knew just how it went together. Easiest to put up with 3 people but manageable with 2. I don't think 1 person could do it alone. The shelter does say it is not to be used in windy conditions but on a typical day at the beach there are wind gusts on occasions. One of the poles on our shelter broke the third time we set it up when a gust of wind came up. We are talking with the manufacturer about getting a replacement pole. Shelter was very spacious and gave great sun protection.
