“I once got a fantastically comfortable pair of cork slippers by Haflinger from STP which I wore around the house especially at the end of the working day. They were so supportive and comfortable that my tired feet quickly revived in them. I have not been able to get a replacement for those Haflingers, and finally looked for other brands with cork construction. These Acorn shoes have good arch support and the cork cushions impact, so they are a good second choice even though they don't have the Haflinger metatarsal support; they don't quite provide the same relief but are good nevertheless. The sole is firm and would be okay outside also. I don't wear them on the street because I prefer wearing shoes that cover the heel area up to the ankle, and these have just a lip at the back of the heel to help them stay on. I have wide feet and they fit just right even with thick wool socks on. They have 'give' to accomodate slight variations in foot shape, so breaking-in is minimal. I got a size nine, and I had thought I was an 8 1/2, so either they are slightly smaller than an average nine, or my feet have gotten slightly bigger. I'm not sure which.”
