Over the years, I've bought several of the Olly Dog XL mats from STP, but decided to change up to these for winter for my Newfies. My senior (11 years) guy really appreciates his and when he gets up, the younger one jumps on it immediately. (I only put both down overnight as they take up a lot of ...

I purchased the same beds about 3 years ago. They retain there shape and loft. The covers are soft but really tough fabric, stands up to scratching dog nails. I just purchased 2 more beds for my Fidos. Cons, the covers will shrink when washed, making it difficult to put them on the foam bed.

This is a really nice thick pad. Would love one with canvas or Kevlar for dogs. Why is it that manufacturers think they have to market everything to people who own cutesy starter dogs? Sure enough, that danged Dobergirl ate the cover and part of the mattress. It's still are really good bed for the price. It's good enough that the Boxer is crawling into the Dobermans crate!

We got this pad for our dog who has a lot of orthopedic issues (hit-and-run last year), to ride on in the back of our Jeep. The cushioning is fabulous--firm, more than sufficiently thick, and bouncy--i.e., VERY supportive (almost as good as latex!), but we never tried it out because the covering is--while soft and plush--too slippery for her to get a grip on. She likes to stand up and get a view, and this would have given her the opposite of a good grip in the car. For lying down it would have been fabulous, but she doesn't need that in the house and she hates a crate. Too bad!...but as usual STP was great with the return.
