This is a nice quality product but there are a few features that are less than desirable. The plush top pills like a microfleece blanket does and you end up with a ton of fuzzies everywhere. This wouldn't be so bad if you could machine wash the cover. Unfortunately you can't as it says you can only spot-clean it. Conclusion: this is a great crate bed that's fits perfectly and offers nice bedding for a very affordable price. The pilling is a bit annoying and the cover can't be machine washed. These are the only things that kept me from giving 5 stars. In my opinion, these aren't deal breakers and I'd buy again!

I have been running a pair of these for a couple of years and they last well and the furry covers wash well. This latest version has a different foam composition than the earlier models which is probably good, as the old ones had begun to disintegrate (upper layer foam rubber sheet, lower was pressed foam chips.) The new version has a more rigid Styrofoam-type top and bottom layer with the pressed chips sandwiched in the center. As a result of the different outer surfaces, they are lighter and more rigid and will stand up/ lean well to get them out of the way...and considering I use the XL size for my pair of Newfs, in a small kitchen, that feature is important.

Bought this for my greyhound's crate. Within two months, the cover has literally disintegrated. Attempted to remove the cover in order to wash it. This was an impossible task for several reasons. For #1, the cover is so thin it began to rip as I was removing it; for #2, there was so much fuzz on the inner foam that it was disgusting. Chucked it directly into the trash. A huge waste of money. :(
