Reviewed by AIRFORBES from Southern Illinois on Wednesday, December 12, 2012This is one of the Best of the Backpacking/Hiking Boots I have purchased, which includes Mammut Mt Crest LTH,Lowa Banff Pro,Hanwag Yukon,Lowa Reneggade LL,and Alico Summit.Quality of material and workmanship is VERY APPARENT in these AKU Boots. They are basically comfortable right out of the box and become more so each day you wear them.Yes they require some break in period but this is and should be expected with this type of boot.I felt very comfortable in them after only two afternoons of wearing them in the house.I have NO DOUBT that these boots will take care of You for many years if you take care of them.I HIGHLY RECOMMEND these Boots for Backpacking,Short or Long Hikes,or just Everyday Wear. You can't go wrong with these BOOTS.
Reviewed by Michaelmpk from Live in Cincinnati on Sunday, October 21, 2012My three favorite brands of hiking boots are AKU, Scarpa, and Zamberlan. If you've never tried a hiking boot made in Europe, you don't know what you're missing. And wearing a boot made in Italy vs other European countries is just as big a contrast as made in Romania vs China, irregardless of the brand. I've worn through many backpacking boots over the years, the price difference is well worth it. These boots are heavier and stiffer, (perfect for heavier loads) but still have that "glove like feel" right out of the box. Older AKU boots run large, these were closer to my normal shoe size. I wear an 11 US and the 11/45 was right on. I would say these are much like the Asolo Sassalong in stiffness and weight, but a much, much better fit and feel. AKU boots are harder to come by, especially at a discounted price, but once you try them, you'll be sold too. Everytime I log onto Sierra Trading Post, I always see what they have offered in the AKU line.
