I have struggled to find a boot to replace my old, discontinued, Scarpa Rios. This boot is a homerun! Lighter than my Rios, but not quite as stiff, still has lots of support. Good toe box and very comfy right outta the gate. Love the protective rand. Good lacing. Seems to be quality built. Put about 18 miles on them chasing birds through rock and mud and they did great. Love 'em.

These may be the most comfortable boots I have ever owned. Right out of the box, I wore them on an 8 mile hike and my feet felt great the entire time.

I have a narrow foot with high arch. Most boots made in China, etc., don't fit properly; these are on a European last and are far superior. This is my second pair of AKU boots, great company.

  • Question “Would these be good for chukar hunting? Steep, rocky terrain, side hulling a lot. Is 6" tall enough or should I go with a 10" boot. Many boots I've had a problem with heel not being locked in well when climbing very steep hills, getting blisters or hot spots on back of heel. Have heard great reviews of Lowa GTX Hunter, but don't want to pay $425. Are these a good mountaineering/off trail boot? Thanks.”
Asked on 9/27/2012 12:00:00 AM by Off trail hiker from Unknown
    • Answer This boot will handle the terrain well, it is a short boot however so if you will need the protection of a 10" boot go that route.||I have small feet and I get a good lock with the lacing system on these and with the lace to toe design they accommodate a wide range of socks, form light poly blends to med weight wool. Good luck on the hunt.
