The boots fit great right out of the box. I followed other posts and bought a half size smaller, which fit well with mid weight hiking socks. I broke them in by wearing them around the office for a week and then off to Alaska for a week.

I just bought 2 more pairs because I love these boots. The first time I tried these boots the only thing I did was to add a pair of Superfeet green inserts and put them on at the start of a 9 day backpacking trip into the Beartooths of Montana, a trip that started with rain, turned to snow, and finally a week of sunshine. Even while hiking with a heavy pack off-trail I found these lightweight boots supportive enough for protection. On day trips, they were wonderful in all types of terrain from marshy meadows to boulder fields. Not a single blister or even a hot-spot the entire trip. The first thing I did when I returned from that trip was buy another pair to use for hiking in Switzerland. Almost a year later, and many day hikes in all types of terrain and in wet and dry conditions, I bought the latest 2 pairs because I have never had such comfortable boots. They seem to wear well, and the only reason I keep collecting them is I would like to have a supply that lasts the rest of my hiking life.
