Went on my first every overnight backpacking trip. Had to cross water multiple times and slosh through lots of mud. Also handled hilly and rocky conditions well. As long as the water didn't come over my boot, my socks and feet stayed dry and comfortable. Other than trying on the boots several times, never did get to break them in before the hike. Hiked 10 miles in two days and never got a blister. A little sore around the ankles but I'm not used to wearing any types of shoes over the ankles. The boots cleaned up nicely too. I thought it was a great pair of boots for a very reasonable price. Will be trying them in Yosemite this summer. Only gripe is that the laces were shorter than I would like but I didn't change them.

Nice boot except for the inside material rub a bit and is uncomfortable on long hikes. I have tried cotton and wool socks and with either there is rubbing aroud the ankles. They are pretty stip and the inside material pretty rough so maybe it wil give after more wears- I have only done 3 hikes

I bought a pair of these boots at full price on the recommendation of my local mountaineering shop two years ago (AMH, outfitters for Denali etc.). They fit my low volume feet very well, with room for my orthotics. So far I've worn them on several long backpacking trips here in AK and also for day hikes in the winter. I don't love Goretex boots -- if they get wet, they are hard to dry when you're backpacking -- but most boots seem to come in Goretex these days. When I saw the boots for 40% off at STP, I jumped on them. When you find gear that works for you, always buy two or more! For me, Italian hiking boots have always been best -- least amount of heel slip. These boots are stiff enough to allow edging on narrow ledges but not as stiff as my leather mountaineering boots. Much more comfortable on approaches, however, and much lighter on your feet all day. I've carried 40 lbs. (I only weigh 110) in these boots with no problems. I highly recommend them for women like me with long toes, narrow heels, and moderate-arched bony feet.

I have had these boots for three years now, and I wore them all the time, from autumn to spring, in the city and also for hiking so I can say they are very durable, comfortable and good looking. I bought this pair from Europe and I intend to buy another one here in USA.

I asked my husband specifically for shoes with tops like these. We live on 40 acres of varying terrain and my other shoes are worn out. I don't hike like my husband but I needed sturdy shoes for our landscape. I prefer being inside. I find shoes with high tops very uncomfortable, but needed protection for my feet. I'm 64.
