defying logic

this is a great carafe, so don't be frustrated trying to open it. first: only the top "knob" piece with push button can be removed. second: the trick is NOT to push the button down. rather, just turn the top "knob" of the carafe a quarter turn counter-clockwise (from the carafe handle in your right hand). it's a somewhat forceful turn, but i think this just reflects the quality/tightness of the seal. enjoy!!...[...]

This is a really nice thermos and very attractive. The top is a little tricky because it twists off. It is multipurpose and can be used even for camping to keep beverages hot or cold. I really like the 'feet' on the bottom that keeps it off the counter or whatever surface you put it on.

I have had several carafes. This is by far the best. I especially like it's aluminum exterior which makes it durable. It kept coffee hot a long time.

I bought this carafe so we could enjoy our coffee and newspaper on our deck without having to run inside to top off our mugs. It works perfectly for that, as well as for iced tea, lemonade and other cold drinks. If I hadn't read the reviews before purchasing, I might have had trouble figuring out how to open the carafe, but I was prepared and have had no trouble (Twist the lid off, by the way).

This coffee thermos works great. The only trouble we had was figuring out how to remove the lid. Turn 1/4 and it is easy. We use it daily but it will be great on car trips.
