    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    I ordered 2 of these; one is very good ... very good thermal retention. However, the lid doesn't close properly on the second and it will be returned. An improvement would be a fully closing lid (i.e., sealing the top completely) for even better thermal retention.

    The lid has an opening that doesn't close. It does what it's supposed to do. I carries hot liquids and it's affordable. For the price the quality can't be beat I just wish I could know that my coffee wouldn't spill if my cup tipped over.

    The cups are wonderful with the exception of not being able to "lock" the liquid in! They don't have no-spill lids. That's the ONLY thing I don't like, though. They're stainless and well made--very nice.

    Aladdin made a variety of travel mugs. I've tried many brands, and all others only go through the dishwasher a dozen times or less before they leak. Aladdin is the first brand that stands up to daily commutes, falling out of cupholders in traffic stops, daily dishwasher cleaning, etc.
