real boots

This is my second pair of Alico boots, only because I wore the soles off my other pair and there is no longer a cobbler in the area.

I need boots like these for rec. (hiking, etc.), but I am also a soil scientist who digs a lot of soil pits. I used to own a pair of Vasque boots, which are light and agile, but they did not last for a single field season. Alico boots are extremely durable. When they are broken in, they are also very comfortable and great on the trail. They have continuous leather on stiched on soles: water repellent, but breathable. The only drawback is that they are heavy for a "hiking" boot.
