This is a beautiful pair of boots. Totally old school. Very different from the best from Asolo and others.

I am 61 and big. I wanted a solid, comfortable pair of boots with great ankle support.Have not really had them out and about much, but there is little doubt that they will take me wherever I want to go for as long as I want to go. I'll use them for photography, day hikes and backpacking and such. Probably use something lighter for snowshoeing.

The leather is really amazing. The welt is totally solid. I can imagine these outliving me. They were immediately comfortable though they will mold to your feet. And I like the three eyes for the ankle, much better for me at least then the two eye designs you see so many of.

I did replace the insole which helped snug up my narrowish heel. Its a pretty minimal expense given the price (thank god for STP) and projected life of these boots.

They are almost a full pound heavier then most competitors, nothing sleek or subtle about them so I kind of giggled when I checked "every day". Only if you live in a mountain town...
