Work Boot

I backpack about 500 to 600 miles per year and I just put about 500 miles on a pair of Summits in the Mtns of AZ and NM and they are a very "Heavy" duty boot and I am not quite sure if they ever got completely broken in. They are still very stiff and after 12 miles a day for 7 weeks with a 50 to 60 lb pack my feet hurt. I have better luck with a more flexible mid hiker. The grip on all surfaces was great and the boots construction is old school and beautiful. I will not use them again for backpacking, off to work they go.I was very hopeful for a better turn out. If you have touchy feet this is not the boot to use. Believe it or not the best boot I have used has been the Vasque Clarion, the grip is not as good but they don't hurt my feet.
