FIRST - remove the stock insoles and replace with a high quality insert as they are like cardboard -that's not a negative statement, I'll explain. I have owned the Summits for 2 years now and initially ordered a 10 because that is what I usually wear but they felt big -not too long or wide but too much capacity as I have thin (height) feet and skinny ankles- so I re-ordered the 9.5. After trying both sizes, I determined that the 10 was the way to go because the 9.5 was not long enough. I replaced the insoles with heavy-duty (thick) type and it was BLISS as far as fit but still needed to be broken in. I can say that after I replaced the insoles and wore them several weeks they started to feel great. Now -I LOVE these boots; they are the highest quality boots/ shoes that I have ever owned and I currently have about 36 pairs of shoes/boots from the highest quality brands on the planet; it is an expensive habit/obsession. I made the decision to buy them based on the owner reviews as the most common statements were about the quality of the boots. This boot is not comfortable out of the box –at least not for me but over time they have become my go-to foot wear for comfort and they look great with everything but a suit. The leather is among the highest quality and most durable that I have seen and they are fully leather lined which adds to the comfort –after broken in. If you like the finer things in life, you will appreciate this boot. I own boots that I prefer to wear when roughing it or if there is a possibility that they might get scratched or beaten up but the Summits are still tuff as nails and feel like they will last a life time.
