not a backpacker boot

While these are really nicely made boots, they are not nearly stiff enough for backpacking. They are really more of a hiking boot. As a climbing arborist I need a stiff, unflexing ankle collar to avoid sprains and twists as I'm carrying heavy tree chunks to and from the truck. The leather is beautiful but too soft for my needs. They will suit the average outdoorsy-type just fine for walks and light hikes. I'm a solid size eight and just found the volume to be too great for a good fit. I dont want to wear two pairs of socks, particularly in the summer, so I'll continue to look for a snugger, stiffer boot.
