Worth the Wait!

I ordered these after two years of searching for the "right" boot based upon the reviews and my disappointing experiences with modern, pieced together, glued sole, Asian [...] that is touted to be so great in every outdoor magazine. I have a narrow foot with a high arch so I ordered the 11 Medium width. I found them to be quite wide-probably comparable to a D width. This, however, has not proven a problem as the boots have broken in like a well-oiled baseball glove. To be honest, the break-in process was a bit tortuous and the left boot broke at an uncomfortable place across the top of my foot for months. I religiously applied Obenhauf's LP and leather conditioner as per the recommendation of a local saddle maker and cobbler. This seems to have helped soften the leather and maintain water resistance. It took all spring and summer hiking through the sagebrush and mountain forests for them to feel like I thought a boot should, but man do they feel good! I am very rough on boots, mostly hiking off trail, side-hilling and crashing through thick, often wet, brush. They seem to be holding up well though I did have to reinforce the stitching in a few spots near the laces. Considering the quality of their fit and construction, I think they should prove to be very worth the money.
