I now own and have used all three alico boots offered at sierra - Summit, Tahoe and Guide. I have hiked at least 200 miles in each style from steep to flat, soft to rocky, wet and dry. These boots were clearly made by very experienced professionals and the workmanship of these Italian cobblers is si... Read More

  • “Hi! How could you compare theese with Red wings or Chippewa in terms of size?”
Asked by Christopher McCandless from Mongolia on 1/28/2017 5:46:03 AM
    • In regard to size I would say the "mountain" style boots I've tried (Tahoe and Belluno) are a little wider. The bigger difference is in where the boot flexes up front when you walk ... to me they seemed to flex farther toward the toe due to the position of the lacing. This created a situation where the flexing leather pinched down into my toes and I just couldn't wear them.

    • I don't have any experience with Red Wing or Chippewa but I normally take a size 10 but I chose size 10.5 and that was a good choice for me as I normally wear good quality hiking socks which are a bit thicker than standard socks.

  • “i wear zamberlan 41 size(EURO). can you recommend my alico size?”
Asked by woo from NJ on 1/1/2017 12:18:38 AM
    • I wear an 8.5 in dress shoes with thin socks and a 9 in hiking boots with thick socks. Since 41 usually translates into an 8 you might make the same decision about sock thickness, i.e. if you wear a 41 with thin socks, then go up half a size. If the 41 is with thick socks, then size 8 should be about right. The Alico hiking boots were true to size and the 9s fit me. Since I'm past 70 and fight plantar fasciitis, I always buy SuperFeet inserts to support my arch.

  • “My foot measures 25.8 cms which size corresponds for alico tahoe for men”
Asked by Reno from france on 12/3/2016 2:14:51 AM
    • Size 8.5 measures approximately 26cm.

    • I can tell you this, I wear a true 11.5 2E in a good quality boot like a pair of Chippewa work boots(6" uninsulated), I don't know about Salomons, never owned any. The Alico Belluno I purchased in 12W was about 1/4-1/2 size larger than the Chippewa, I was able to wear it comfortably wearing a very thick Wigwam Canada sock (XL). That is, the fit was good, however the boots flexed closer to my toes than regular boots, pinching my toes. I would say the Belluno ran perhaps 1/4 size larger in general.
