    Pros:

    Cons:
    Insole helps
    Best Uses:
Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions
    Describe Yourself:
    Avid Adventurer, Casual/Recreational
    Sizing:
    Feels half size too big
    Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I love these boots. I've been jealous of my husband's for a year and finally got my own. They are made to last a lifetime (Vibram sole can be replaced if it wears out!) BUT: I got half a size SMALLER than usual, and the fit is perfect. (The website says to order half a size bigger.) I have wide feet that are an 8-1/2 in length, but I usually get a 9 for the width. Since there was no 9 available, I got an 8-1/2 and a 9-1/2 to try. The 8-1/2 is a perfect fi, b/c there's plenty of toe room for my short, wide feet. Heel fits perfectly. My usual 9 would have been too big. So consider your foot shape, not just size.

I walk most days three miles and hike whenever I can. There was no arch support in these boots so they went back

The tongue of the boot is not long enough and very stiff at the top, so it hit my ankle front too low and hurt. Wish they had been comfortable as they seem like a very well-made boot, other than that.

Bought these pretty boots for hiking. They feel like a running sneaker but with plenty of support. I liked them so much that I wore them to work. They have been heavily abused, hydraulic oil, sand, etc. They lasted me a whole year, all the other boots I have ever had did not last me more than 4 months. I need to get another pair. They do run a little small by about 1/2 size.

The website recommended to get a half size larger than your normal shoes and I was glad I did. They fit perfectly and are extremely comfortable. Didn't even need to break them in first.

I called Alico in Italy to find out who sold their boots in the US because the last pair I had lasted me ten years of everyday use in the cooler months and every weekend use in the summer. I actually spilled a drop of HCl on my boots in chemistry lab and while you could see where it fell it didn't wear all the way through. I hiked and backpacked in them regularly and they were always so comfortable. In fact they take barely any breaking in before they feel like you've been wearing them forever. As long as they keep the same quality I will never have another pair of boots again! Alico is the best!

I waited a long time to find hiking boots like these-- lightweight, durable Vibram soles, well-made but not too expensive. [...]
