“A well made but heavy double boot; the inner boot is very well padded in tongue, sole and inner/outer heels. The outer boot is extremely stiff (as new) and therefore takes a real effort to cinch down using the lacing system with two fixed cleats at the top. The instep tie down strap is effective at snugging the outer boot to the inner however on my relatively narrow foot, there is little velcro overlap (less than 1") to effectively stick together because the strap has been made too long. (another commentor mentioned the same thing, that too much tail sticks out and catches snow on the outside of the boots). The problem is fixable by removing and shortening the existing strap, however some cutting and sewing will be required; not a big deal if you sew. I'm looking to replace an old pair of Merrill leather boots and Scarpa T3's with these. The combination of a leather boot & double boot with the capabilities of warm feet while snow camping/skiing attracts me to these boots. I have not skied on these yet but expect that performance for back country skiing will be somewhere between the two. These boot also appear to accept Grivel G14 Crampons despite the extended "nose", so I look forward to seeing how they work in that secondary service as backup to mountaineering boots.”
